CULINARY AND INDONESIAN PRODUCT DIPLOMATION IN INDONESIAN BAZAAR AND CULTURAL DAY IN PRETORIA

Trade representatives are increasingly engaged in trade promotion efforts with various strategies to improve national export performance for Indonesia's economic prosperity. This time the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in Johannesburg in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in Pretoria organized the 2018 Indonesian Bazaar and Cultural Day on August 4, 2018 at the Pretoria Ambassador House. The event which was held as one of the series to welcome the 73rd Indonesian Independence Day was a culinary diplomacy strategy and promotion of Indonesian products which were summarized attractively for all people in South Africa

The Indonesian bazaar was opened by Mr. Salman Al Farisi, as the Indonesian Ambassador to Pretoria and attended by approximately 700 invited guests and the general public in Pretoria and Johannesburg as two major cities in South Africa. The bazaar was also treated by a number of food stands selling authentic Indonesian dishes including chicken satay, bakso, rendang, nasi uduk and so on. In his greeting, Ambassador Salman expressed his hope that Indonesian food and products could be enjoyed by the people of South Africa as a whole.The Johannesburg ITPC stand, which is strategically located near the main arena, this time presents sampling for Indonesian instant noodles and coffee products.

  "The appreciation of the guests who attended the Indonesian bazaar was extraordinary, they enjoyed the taste of authentic Indonesian coffee and of course instant noodles which are favorites in the African region", added Pontas. The Johannesburg ITPC aims to get new distributors during the bazaar assuming the guests can be potential Indonesian food and beverage businesses in South Africa"
